Description
Transform Ordinary Surfaces with the Magic of Thermochromic Ink - Touch or Rub & Reveal
Unlock a world of interactive possibilities with our high-performance thermochromic ink. This innovative formula, engineered for vibrant colour shifts and seamless application, allows you to create captivating designs that transform with temperature.
Experience the Dramatic Colour Change
Our thermochromic ink undergoes a remarkable transition at 31°C (88°F). Below this temperature, it presents as a rich, deep black, effectively concealing any underlying design. When exposed to heat above the activation temperature, such as the warmth of a hand, the ink fades to translucent, revealing the hidden layer beneath. This captivating transformation is reversible and can be repeated countless times, adding an element of surprise and interactivity to your creations.
Achieve Flawless Results
Our thermochromic ink is supplied as a two-part system, comprising a pigment-rich slurry and a specialised binder. To ensure optimal performance and adhesion, these components must be thoroughly mixed in a 50/50 ratio prior to application.
For superior coverage and vibrant colour transitions, we recommend applying 2–3 thin, even coats. Screen printing is the ideal method for achieving professional-quality results, ensuring consistent ink distribution and minimising the risk of cloudy patches. Alternatively, a foam roller can be used for smaller projects or less intricate designs.
Important Application Notes:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure your chosen substrate is clean, dry, and free from dust or contaminants before applying the ink.
- Avoid Brush Application: Using a paintbrush can lead to uneven coats and compromise the clarity of the colour change.
- Individual Colour Use: Each thermochromic ink colour is formulated for independent use. Mixing colours or layering them may affect the performance and clarity of the colour shift.
- Drying: If using heat, keep it low and short: stay below 180°C, as briefly as possible, and avoid prolonged heat above 75°C. Brief heat at 100°C for 1–2 minutes is fine.
Explore a Multitude of Creative Applications
The versatility of our thermochromic ink makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, with a particular emphasis on touch and reveal experiences:
- Hidden Messages and Reveals: Conceal secret messages, surprise graphics, or promotional codes that appear as if by magic with the touch of a hand. This makes our ink perfect for interactive games, novelty gifts, and security applications.
- Interactive Artwork: Create dynamic artwork that responds to the warmth of touch, adding a captivating dimension to your designs. Imagine canvases that transform with a simple caress, or murals that evolve as people interact with them.
- Novelty and Promotional Products: Develop unique, attention-grabbing products such as cards and promotional materials with hidden messages revealed through touch.
- Textile and Apparel Design: Incorporate thermochromic elements into garments and accessories for eye-catching, interactive fashion. Imagine t-shirts with designs that appear and disappear with body heat, or bags that change colour with a touch.
- Packaging and Labelling: Enhance packaging with hidden designs that engage consumers, for example labels that reveal hidden messages when touched.
Substrate Compatibility
Our thermochromic inks print onto textiles, paper and board. If you are interested in applying the ink to other substrates, such as wood, plastic, metal, glass, or ceramics, please contact our technical team for advice.

Storage: Keep it in a cool, dark place, ideally at 20°C or below, with the lid tightly closed, and use within 12 months. Don't let it freeze, and don't store it with food or drink. Direct sunlight and UV damage the thermochromic materials.
Before use, please read the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and the Safety Data Sheets for the thermochromic slurry (SDS) and the binder (SDS). For step-by-step advice on paper, board and fabric, read our guide: How to screen print thermochromic ink →
