Mayoral Visit to our new R & D Offices

Recently, we had honour of welcoming the Mayor and his staff of Lewes Council to our new offices in Newhaven. Our Research and Development Director Oliver Dredge, demonstrated some of our favourite smart materials:

Thermochromics which start coloured then turn transluscent with temperature

Photochromics which turn a vibrant colour when exposed to UV light

Hydrochromics which turn translucent when exposed to moisture and water

These technologies are greatly beneficial in countless sectors, including the automobile industry and education. Thermochromics and Photochromics are especially useful for Health and Safety awareness. For example, to warn of changes temperature in baby safety products and to detect harmful UV rays using special wristbands and sun strength monitor cards.

Our guests were particularly interested to see the development of our Liquid Crystal inks and specialised sprayable ink coatings.

Thermochromic research and development

Thank you Lewes Council!
