Photochromic materials react to sunlight. Indoors they look pale or colourless; step outside, or shine a UV lamp on them, and vivid colour appears within moments. Back in the shade, the colour fades again — so the effect repeats every time.
Choose your form
Pigment powders to mix into your own paints, inks, resins and plastics — violet, magenta, cobalt blue, orange and canary yellow
Water-based screen-printing ink for paper, board and textiles
Plastisol screen-printing inks for fabric — yellow, orange, blue, violet and magenta
Trial packs to compare colours before ordering in volume
Getting the best result
Photochromic materials need UV light — direct daylight or a UV lamp. Most window glass blocks much of the UV in sunlight, so the effect is usually weaker indoors behind a window.
Where they're used
T-shirts and fashion, outdoor promotions and giveaways, sun-reveal printing and hidden messages, packaging, crafts and design, security printing, and education and science demonstrations about UV light.
