PRODUCT INFORMATION

SFXC Hydrochromic film is a moisture-sensitive, water-reactive material that reduces in opacity when exposed to water and certain liquids. This effect is reversible, transitioning from white (dry) to translucent when activated.

This behaviour allows images, colours, or text beneath the film to be hidden when dry and revealed when wet, creating a clear and visually engaging wet-reveal effect.

APPLICATION

This adhesive-backed hydrochromic film provides a simple and effective way to apply a water-reactive effect to a wide range of surfaces without the need for spray equipment or coatings. To apply, remove the backing liner and position the film onto a clean surface.

The material is flexible and can be cut to size using scissors, a craft knife, or a guillotine, making it suitable for prototyping, design work, printed materials, demonstrations, and production applications.

Hydrochromic materials are used across a wide range of applications, including drinks labels, packaging, fashion, art installations, printed materials, wet-and-reveal promotions, moisture indicators, and educational demonstrations.

As a smart material, hydrochromic film is also widely used in schools, colleges, and museums as part of learning programmes covering responsive materials and surface interaction.

APPLICATION NOTES

Hydrochromic sheets appear white when dry and reveal underlying colour or imagery when wet. When applied over darker surfaces, some visibility may remain before activation. For the clearest visual effect, lighter background colours are recommended.

As with all surface-applied materials, we recommend testing before full application to ensure the final appearance meets your expectations.

Removing the adhesive after application may damage the surface or the material. Custom orders are non-refundable and non-returnable, so we recommend testing before ordering in volume.
